I struggled to finish this book, but i pushed myself to finish, because I am not a quitter!😅 I found it to be too petty for my liking. It leaned too much into a sensational pop-culture type of story. Maybe I'm just too old for this type of novel. It strikes me as a reality TV kind of vibe. Constant bickering, cat fighting, gossiping, and backstabbing type of behaviors. June's dislike of Athena is almost comical at times. I think that I often times view the world through rose colored glasses and frequently forget that many people are simply vindictive, jealous and just plain immature and lack the ability to function at a higher level. I found that the characters of this storyline in many instances exemplified these characteristics.
On a more positive note...I learned quite a bit about the book publishing world, how writers struggle with creating content, how difficult it is to create original content, how book deals work, the challenges of being an author from a non-white ethnicity ....
