OK this book. Let me just say this took me forever to read. When I say forever I mean that a 300 page book normally takes me a day and a half and this book took me maybe 3-4 days to finish. I wasn’t hooked at all. It was extremely slow with nothing to really fill in the space to motivate me beside my own determination.

I do enjoy the fact that the actual authors are kind of a play on the characters in the book, with them actually being a couple and co-wrote this together.

Overall, I thought it was going to be some thing completely different than what I got. I was expecting it to be a spicy fast pace, good angsty banter between Nathan and Katrina type of read but I was left feeling underwhelmed.

Realistically 4.5. I wish I hadn’t read reviews of this before because they really put me off of this book. When I finally got to this (it was on my physical TBR for over a year) - I absolutelyyyy got sucked in from the first couple of pages.

I thought the writing absolutely beautiful. Certain times the writing would be so mundane and descriptive, but it added so much to the tension between the characters. The hands settling in the lap. The coffee on the table getting cold. The feel of a certain fabric on the skin. The tug of a smile on the lips. It was one of the first books in a long long time where I was actually underlining lines every couple of pages. The authors did an incredible job depicting angst using action and dialogue. I mean it was ROUGH at some parts, in one chapter you read scenes of discomfort and tension from the present and the next chapter is a scene of them getting along incredibly well in the past. You got to know both characters wholly and the flaws they had. Oof. I loved it and could totally see myself re-reading it. Beautiful book
