I found this book very interesting - it was well written and had some fascinating characters. In many ways it reminded me of The Paris Wife, not only because it's good historical fiction with a very strong sense of place, but because in both books I found the main character a little hard to figure out. But I'm very glad I read it.

This book really sucked me in from the beginning and I really didn't want to put it down. Something about the writing style was refreshing and made it very enjoyable. The plot was almost a romantic mystery, if there is such a thing. I couldn't wait to see who ended up with whom and how everyone turned out. Definitely some sad bits along the way with an equal dose of surprise and humor.
