Loved the writing.  Gabby Rivera did such a great job in bringing Chavez to life and I definitely want to give Rivera's other works a read.

I think this must not be meant for me, which is fine. But from my perspective this is a really interesting character and this story is just a total mess. As someone else said, a lot of potential and then just trying too hard to create too many meme-worthy moments as opposed to giving America a real chance as a character. Shame. I was looking so forward to this.

Someone I follow on tumblr is obsessed with this title, and they shared enough excerpts and teasers that I was won over and bought a copy.

Now, there were elements of this story that I really liked -- I love Kate Bishop, and the Kate-America friendship was great, punching Hitler, the Lunella Lafayette appearance, etc. But overall it ended up feeling like too much. Too many connections with other titles, too much world set-up, too many character introductions. I was constantly wondering how much they were expecting me to already know from other titles and why they weren't doing more favors for comics newbies who could otherwise easily been drawn in by this new offering of representation. How could this flurry of dropping in on 87 characters in the Marvel universe not be off-putting? Add to that a radical change in art styles partway through, and it really doesn't seem well set-up to onboard new readers.

I wanted to love this much more than I did.

Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it. It was okay.

Absolutely made me love America even more! Was also super excited to see my fave Kate Bishop. I love their friendship so much. And I really wasn’t seeing that ending coming. I feel like doing my homework on all the other Young Avengers paid off.
Loved the art, too!
