This book gets better each time I read it. I tend to remember as a simplistic early version of the series. However, it has a fully developed plot, mystery, suspense, heroics, and character development just as the latter books do.
Rowling's books are too important to be summed up by one thought, quote, or idea, but were I to try it would be this:
“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”
