This was a re-read for me and I enjoyed it more this time. Having read the whole series I now have a much greater appreciation for the thought and planning that went into the story as a whole. There were some terrific hints laid out for the much later books! Great fun.

This was the weak link to the series (And I better still be able to say that after the seventh and final book). If I weren't sick and laid up on my couch, I might have never moved on to the third book. I am glad I did, because the series is nothing short of flawless after this hiccup. If you aren't a huge Harry Potter fan, don't feel bad just skipping this book to get to the bigger, better and badder Potter stories that follow.
Update: I revisited this book on audio with Stephen Fry narrating it, and it was excellent. Highly recommended. I also want to add that a lot of plot threads that become more important later in the series are first brought up in this book, so I'll rescind my suggestion to skip this installment, even if it isn't as compelling as the others.
