I had a hard time with the slow pace of this book.

Hopped on the Kimball train because of her Joanna Barker name drop and I was NOT disappointed! A tender and emotional dragon-slaying, shin kicker with a marriage of convenience to’a ye Scot to boot! *When Charlotte entered I CROAKED.* Tension, turmoil, growth, pure love… everything felt so real/tangible. I couldn’t put it down. It’s sitting a little on the heavier side of my heart, but regardless, give me plaid or give me death!

“I’ve come to expect that if I waited to love someone until they were perfect, I’d ne’er love anyone at all.”

“I love ye, Katie. And I swear to always love ya as ya deserve to be loved.”

* Listening to this one was a GREAT choice

Heidi Kimball has written a beautiful story of a second chance at love for a marriage of convenience, set in Scotland. The day after their arranged marriage, Callum leaves his home and new wife, Kate. He shows back up 4.5 years later to a wife that is not quite ready to forgive being so easily abandoned. This book shows us what it means to love, forgive, and how to put all the messy pieces back together. I really enjoyed it!
