I had massive trouble putting this one down! Everything about this story pulled me in and I devoured it. Such a great plot with great characters and a beautiful setting, I loved absolutely everything about this story. Will be buying this one for my keeper shelf as it will for sure be a reread.

3.5/5 definitely a sweet read that put me back in the beauty of Scotland. Callum reminded me a lot of Jamie from outlander and I appreciated his love for his country and his dedication to winning Katie. But I also understand Katie not wanting to trust this man again. I was a little over hearing “how can I trust him” every other page but I also think it showed how insecure and heartbroken she was. And I think it’s brave Katie was willing to open her heart up again as much fight as she tried to put up.

When Callum Darrington learns that his father has arranged for him to be married to Lady Katherine, he strikes a bargain to help his uncle's family in exchange for going through with the nuptials. But when he learns his father has tricked him, Callum decides to escape the Duke's influence even though it will hurt his new marriage. Years later, when faced with the reality of his father's ailing health, Callum returns to take over as heir and try to heal his marriage to Katherine. Little does he know that Katherine has a secret that will change everything.
What a sweet and tender second chance romance! While this did feel a bit slow at times, it felt realistic for Callum and Katherine to take their time healing and making amends. Callum made mistakes in the beginning, but he proved himself to be a determined and loyal husband once he came to his senses. I liked how he respected Kate and tried to give her space while also proving himself worthy of forgiveness. Kate was so strong after all she had been through. I can't imagine being in her shoes. I was glad she was willing to give Callum a chance. I don't want to give too much more detail, as there's things that you'll need to discover for yourself while reading. I will say that I adored another important character who shall remain nameless, and I think that part of the story was written very well. I'm very eager to read the next book now that I've learned who it's about!

'Heart in the Highlands' was an easy read, and a page turner. This book is the type of romance I die for. The tension, the second chances, the arranged marriage (don’t know why this has always appealed to me in books). I just wanted the MCs to get together so bad. I could read romances like this all the time. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars is because I do prefer reading books with a little more to the plot than just romance. Romance subplot, great! Primarily romance with a subplot, great! But as soon as it’s entirely romance I just feel like it’s lacking something. I don’t know why, it’s just a personal preference. Overall, I definitely recommend this book. It’s a totally swoon worthy closed-door romance that you should pick up and read.
This book took a setup that I tend not to love but still managed to tell a beautiful story. This is a second chance romance of a couple that had a marriage of convenience but something happened to break them apart. (also with a splash of secret baby) One thing I liked about the romance was that there were mistakes and hurts made on both sides, and I did feel like both leads grew and matured throughout the story. Also, the setting of the book was so beautifully written. I still had my issues with some decisions made by the characters, but ultimately, I though a lot of aspects of their relationship was very sweet, particularly the ways they worked to rebuild trust. I am definitely curious about this author and would love to pick up more by her in the future. 🫂👥👯♀️🔓🌤️
