2024- The back half of this book was infinitely worth slogging through the first half setup in Alon Rhist. There were spectacular moments in this book, several made me pause in awe for a variety of emotions. I do question some of the choices in character development, namely Persephone’s continued coldness towards Raithe and Nyphron’s decline into pomposity, but overall this was a well-worth it read with a masterpiece ending.

The end of the second book made me a little hesitant to continue, but the third book picked up the story and expanded upon characters' stories in a nice way.

As per the title of this book, this was a lot of... war. Too much of it. From the 50% mark, it was all fighting and typically those are the parts I find least interesting. I listened to the graphic audio for this while driving around, cleaning, etc. which is why I finished it, otherwise I probably would have skimmed through to the end. A let down after book 2 which was quite fun and entertaining. Not sure I'll continue with this series, it's gotten a little too predictable now.

Wasn't feeling this one as much as the previous books.
