Ok first off, this was a work of ART! I'm really curious to know more of Babs' family. When is Vol. 2 coming out?!

Conflicted about the whole comic. On one hand the art is awesome, and I appreciate that the writers are giving Babs a youthful vibe - we already have too many wet blankets in the Bat-family. On the other hand they dumbed her down way too much! There are no big challenges to be faced, no detective skills involved, and her "mind as a computer" is used as a plot device that comes and goes when inconvenient to the narrative. The way I see it Batgirl is DC answer to Marvel's Ms. Marvel and it falls short. Also, adding a sidekick with muscular dystrophy does not make up for removing the one title character with disabilities from the lineup.

I absolutely adore Babs Tarr's artwork. The artwork itself boosted my rating an extra star. I picked up this book knowing the target audience was younger than myself, but it was still a good read.

I'm trying to know more dc characters. I feel like I only really know the main 5: Batman Superman Wonder Woman Joker and Harley Quinn. I though this would be a good one to start with per my bestfriend giving me a list of comics/graphic novels to read. All in all I think this one was good, wish I knew the back story that was hinted at like why she was in a wheelchair and how she got out of one. was it long term? Is that what she meant by the connection with Fruit Bat? Her friend Kai can eat dirt I don't know much about him but he seemed like a douche bag from the start.

Hipster Batgirl really worked for me, the art was gorgeous, the story was compelling and the characters were well brought to life. I will aim to continue with this run if the same team are in charge.

This wasn't bad, just not my thing. This Batgirl started off REALLY annoying at first, and I almost abandoned the trade paperback. The beginning just screams annoying fake cool/hipster millenials, and it felt like the title was trying too hard. To Cameron Stewart's credit, the script improved, and while this still reads like a shojo manga title that features 20-something-year-olds but appeals to tweens and teens (like an old WB show), it came together nicely in the end with positive messages about social media self-absorption and friendship. I also thought that the recap of Barbara's past was done pretty well.
