This is a book that holds so much mixed sentiments— victimhood, obsession, frustrating, and more often exasperating situations for common people to read. Those who are free from things Vanessa had for most of her life time sometimes couldn't comprehend many things she had done. Raised so many inquiries behind those acts that had driven by trauma, though she might think opposed to that.

At some points, I was too focused and engrossed to the way the story unfolds and at some others I was too emotionally conscious that this had kind of romantization of Vanessa's relationship and feeling with Strane. And I'm so deeply sorry if it sound so insensitive but that's how I feel throughout the reading. But I guess it was happened none other but compelled by the whole things. The manipulation, gaslighting, brainwashing over a teenage girl that hasn't fully developed, hasn't yet fully grasp on how the worlds is truly works and how many monsters out there picking up their preys and tried to ruin them, in this case, it was her.

A great visualization of what a victimhood of rape would have been through without some surveillance and reassurance, without comfort by their sides. And making it back to back between 2001 and 2017 was truly mind boggling. Some part were said first so we could fathom things mentioned in the next chapter, and so conversely, some initially left so vague that we had to wait for the answer later after. It was like we were dragged by to see things as vivid and as confusing as it was for Vanessa.

I hardly think will put hands on this ever again but it never been a regret. Many pages turned and I love each time spent for it. And in my hopeful prayers, I hope the others Vanessa or Taylor out there shouldn't have existed no more nor do they had to suffer for a long time without any help. And hope that the adults around them are willing to put more effort to protect them.
