This is the type of book that sticks with you long after you’ve finished it. It was haunting and heartbreaking. The writing was incredible and the way this author handled such a delicate topic was masterful. I’m truly baffled at how well this was executed because I’ll be honest—I was skeptical going in after reading the synopsis. Glad I read this novel. As hard as it was to read, it’s such a necessary body of work.

Asks the readers interesting questions about survival, abuse, and the act of confession. Can you save others from harm without saving yourself first? Why do we demand perfect victims?

Could not put down this book. I have a penchant for dark and gloomy stories, so this was perfect. Horrifying and grotesque in many elements, it's a story about lust and desire but in all the (fundamentally and unequivocally) wrong ways. The illusion that the main character builds up for herself is quite heartbreaking, but also inherently fascinating. Be aware of trigger warnings.
