This world was so sweet and lovely and heartwarming! Anne is the type of friend everyone longs for. All I want to do now is imagine life on a rural farm.
And if that wasn't enough, L.M. Montgomery casually drops what might be the cutest verse of poetry ever:

This took me so long to read and I randomly put it down in the middle for some reason but I just finished and it was so heartwarming!
I love Anne so much. She is such a ball of energy and sunlight and she is such an entertaining main character to read about. I love how she sees the world.
The found family is just so beautiful and I adore the relationships so much. Anne, Marilla and Matthew have so many wholesome moments that had me crying, laughing and just gushing.
The nature descriptions were also just so beautiful and the writing was so lovely and easy to understand.
I definitely want to continue with the series and I am really glad that I picked it back up.
4/5 stars!

Something was wrong with my Canadian upbringing that I am now just reading Anne of Green Gables as a 31 year old! I was worried to begin reading something that is considered a children's or young adult book as an adult, and if it would resonant with me. Anne Shirley of Green Gables is a universal character that transcends age; I had nothing to worry about.
The descriptions of PEI were lyrical, magical, and nature filled. Avonlea is an oasis. The moment Anne opens her mouth and the first lines of her dialogue are read, I was smiling and laughing. I loved Anne and her big words, her hyperbole, her quest for anything "romantic." Anne is infectious and lovable from the start, even in her temper and insecurities. Will forever be a fan of Anne with an E.

Ana dos cabelos ruivos não fez parte nem dos livros que li na minha infância, nem dos desenhos animados que passavam na televisão naquela altura, e se não fosse a série Anne with an E, na Netflix, talvez nunca tivesse resolvido ler este primeiro volume.
É difícil não gostar de um clássico infantil, e é quase impossível não achar deliciosas as histórias desta miúda ruiva, órfã, destemida, independente, ardente, sonhadora e muito, mas muito faladora.
Adorei, e agora é continuar em inglês.
