Had this on my list for a while because Carrie Fisher.  Finally decided to read it because I hadn’t used any of my hoopla borrows for the month and didn’t want to lose them, but wanted something short.

This is only about 3 hours long, and is adapted from her one-woman show. It feels like a stand up routine in a fun way. It is sad reading this after she’s passed, and her mother as well since her mother is such a prominent character as well - as mothers are.

The ending is quite funny, and definitely earned.

Is it a particularly impactful or insightful book? No, but it was nice to spend a couple hours with Ms Fisher again.

This is probably the most entertaining book I've ever listened to. Carrie Fisher is a rock star, and an icon in every sense of the word. She tells her story with such lucidity and wit which as a reader, I actually really appreciated. You can sense the development and self awareness and it made for a genuinely great listen.

Also special mention to the author's note at the end. A perfect way to end a memoir of this calibre.

'In my opinion, living with manic depression takes a tremendous amount of balls. Not unlike a tour of duty in Afghanistan (though the bombs and bullets, in this case, come from the inside).'

I enjoyed this, but thought it was too short. It ended quite abruptly. However, I have learned she has several short memoirs and I look forward to reading all of them. I love the writing style and quick witty humor while learning about her past.

Carrie Fisher is hilarious! Her wit and comedic writing makes her story easily digestible and engaging. The content itself is a different story. It is nice to hear about her life through her voice, literally, as we can only know so much from the media and internet. I didn't know much about her other than that she played Princess Leia and was the daughter of celebrities. The way she discuss the "hollywood inbreeding" was both funny and informative. One of the be celebrity memoirs I have read/listened to. Highly suggest listening to it, as it is read by Fisher herself.

It provides lots of insight into Carrie's upbringing and family life, so if you're a Carrie fan, you'll definitely enjoy it. To me it seemed like one very long blog post about her life... Not bad, but not groundbreaking either. Would still recommend tho.

A fun, short read about an interesting lady. Makes me feel like I've missed out by not watching more of her filmography.

Fisher has a 'you have to laugh about it' attitude about some pretty heavy subjects, but I think she has done a lot to make people more sympathetic and take themselves less seriously too.
