Thought with the all drama the book has, ı would be curious to read it so it would take me out of my reading slump. But ıt made it worse took me 2 months to read it. Not worth it, sometimes ı should just quit reading it. Thanks for the reminder and the star is for that.

In the middle I wasn't sure but by the end Rushdie brought me round again. That said, I may have to read this one again. I feel like I missed a few things.

DNF, despite multiple attempts

Will require many readings due to the complexity of the narration and the depth of the references.
In the first half of the novel, I couldn't understand why it had caused such a scandal when it came out, but once the scene was set things got heavy.

Wow. This book is a dense mural of symbols - narratives, dreams, myths, hallucinations…There are so many cosmic and pragmatic conflicts to consider and apply to oneself and their world. But man, it’s a lot. Not a casual read.

For decades, I have meant to read this book to see what all the fuss was about. Meh. It is nowhere near Rushdie's best (in my remedial opinion, anyway), but he is a master of the multidimensional, and it makes it a joy to read simply for that fact. I also love that it got people into a murderous rage about it - the offending part of the book is so ancillary; it just shows how thin the skins of those who were so gravely insulted are.

Did not enjoy this book. It was a mess. Consequently it was very difficult to understand what was going on. If I could give it 0 stars I would. Just awful. To be honest even I want to burn it.
