I think upon a re-read this could be a 5 star. I think the way I read it was a bit of a detriment to my overall reading experience (reading in short bursts during work breaks rather than really soaking it in). But oh man did I enjoy this! Loved the vibes, the action, the characters and their emotional journeys.. what a great story!

Very glad I read this on an e-reader because I had to look up the definition of a word every other page LOL

I didn’t know what to expect, but this book was recommended to me twice in two days so I took the plunge.

It did not disappoint. Gideon is like nothing I have read. The world the author creates is stunning and unique. And the story unfolding in one small corner is fantastic.

Gideon Nav is complex, beautiful and charming. And Harrow is supposed to be awful, and she is. And yet I found I loved her and wanted to know more about it.

The whole book left me wanting more and I can’t wait to read Harrow.

This book was such a fucking delight.  I was expecting it to be harder to parse, honestly, but as someone familiar with Muir's works from their Homestuck fanfiction days, I was able to pick up the thread really quick, and the world was foreign and unique but also not too hard to understand.

My only gripe would be the sheer number of characters I was having to keep up with,
but they die off quickly enough that it gets easier the further I got
.  I found the cast incredibly remarkable, delightfully diverse, laugh-out-loud funny, and Gideon was such a great narrator for this first installment; she has no fucking idea what's going on around her, and neither do I, so that makes us a great pair!

I don’t get the hype. I can’t take it seriously when we keep randomly bringing up pornographic magazines out of no where. Idk what is going on. The plot feels all over the place. I literally had to force myself through the first 30ish pages and honestly I’m just not interested anymore.
