Having finished The Trap, it feels as though not a lot actually happened, but it was still satisfying to read.
The chapters from the killer’s point of view were intriguing and creepy.

I didn’t see what was coming, the writing cleverly disguised the twist(s) until the reveal. There are things I would have liked to be fleshed out a little more, but it was an enjoyable read.

I’ve heard people say they didn’t like the ending, and that it didn’t feel like much of one. After an initial ‘oh, that’s it?’ moment, I actually really liked it. It felt to me like a mirror of the way we don’t always get the conclusion we want in real life.

The number of plot twists? Wow. The changes in narration? Also wow. This one was basically unputdownable. The characters were so unlikable, and hard to get a read on somehow, but it honestly didn't matter. Ireland, mystery, serial killer - SOLD!

i felt it was very slow burn which i’m just not a fan of. but once i got to the middle, i was hooked. the characters are realistic in that they make dumb choices any fallible human would make in the situation.

on that note: the sisters were so painfully dumb but i did like the female cop duo

Confusing and difficult to follow along, rlly wanted to enjoy but couldn't connect with the characters and couldn't seem to get into the book.

Thanks to Netgalley and Blackstone Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this title prior to publication. Catherine Ryan Howard is one of my favorite writers, so I was really excited to get to read this new book pre-release. I was really intrigued that the story was inspired by her own childhood obsession with missing people in the US as well as Ireland's various missing women when she was young. As usual, I loved the Easter eggs to other books she and others have written, and her characters were compelling. I had trouble with the plotting of this one, and I was stunned at where she ended things (can't say more due to spoilers). Still, it was an entertaining read, and I will still read anything she writes, but this was not my favorite. 3 stars.
