This did not work for me - on any level.
The premise, while not the most original, is interesting. Greta Wells, while undergoing electric shock therapy for her depression, is transported to her alternative lives in different historical eras. One is in 1918 during the tale end of the First World War and the ongoing Flu Pandemic. The other is in 1941 on the eve of the US entry into the Second World War.
The historical settings is used as set dressing and Greta behaves too anachronistically to smoothly fit into her time periods (like the ending.... I don’t buy it). Greta (all three versions of her) break time travel rule #1 which is: DON’T MESS OR MEDDLE WITH PEOPLE OR EVENTS. I’ll accept that 1918 Greta and 1941 Greta aren’t as familiar with time travel rules as 1985 Greta. But it was so annoying to read 1985 Greta impose her 1980s values on the past. That’s not how any of this works.
It was a frustrating read. The only saving grace was that this book is under 300 pages.

Had to put this one down. Several hours of my life (125 pages) I'll never get back. The concept was interesting-different versions of a life brought on by electro-shock therapy, but Greta was not a heroine (this seems like the wrong word) I could get behind. I didn't care what happened to her or any of the other characters, so I called it. Sigh.

I feel it uses AIDs, war and the 1912 pandemic as coarse gimmicks to advance the plot, instead of treating them with any degree of sensitivity.

Planteamiento interesante pero con un mal desarrollo de historia.
Este es un libro que se vende con cierto aire novela de ciencia ficción, o más bien de fantasía, pero que no deja de ser un drama romántico clásico. Ojo, no critico el género sino cómo nos lo quiere vender el autor. La premisa es interesante, qué harías, qué cambiarías de tu vida si pudieras volver a vivirla. Para resolver estas cuestiones el autor se saca de la chistera la existencia de universos paralelos pero muy ajustados a sus necesidades, sin preocuparse mucho de darle cierta coherencia, más allá de lo que le interesa para contar su historia y claro, esto a cualquier aficionado a la ciencia ficción le saca de lo que te están contando. Hay mucha gente que cree que ciencia ficción o fantasía son etiquetas que te permiten hacer cualquier cosa, y no señores, hay reglas y esta novela se las salta cada vez que quiere, simplemente porque lo que en realidad quiere contar es una historia de amor o desamor, y me parece bien, pero si quieres contar cómo puede cambiar tu vida según qué decisiones tomas, trabájatelo un poco coñ….
Le doy 2 estrellas porque sinceramente la idea me gusta y hay reflexiones muy interesantes en la novela, simplemente está mal contada, al menos desde mi percepción. Seguro que hay mucha gente que la disfrutará pero no ha sido mi caso

This is a terrible book. The premise is nonsensical... I say this as someone who thoroughly enjoys fantasy. But I can't get behind a plot that revolves around the impossible and doesn't explain the how or why.
Aside from the ridiculousness, it's also a terrible plot. Boring story line with a lackluster (and unsurprising) ending.
The *only* reason this gets two stars instead of one... there were more than a few really excellent lines in this book that made me go back and thing, "Yeah. You totally captured that feeling/opinion/something that makes my heart quiken."
But... there are other books that do that and don't suck.
