I know this received some positive reviews by the French media, but I was disappointed. The stories were quick reads and, yes, as the reviews on the book cover noted, Gavalda does a nice job of portraying the emotions of the characters. But most of these stories of longing had a pessimistic bend to them that I didn't like.

Wenn ich es nicht besser wüsste, würde ich denken, die Geschichten seien von einem misogynen Mann geschrieben. Die weiblichen Nebencharaktere werden permanent auf ihr Äußeres reduziert und sexualisiert - fand ich wirklich unangenehm zu lesen.
Abgesehen davon gut geschrieben, sehr treffliche Charakter- und Situationenbeschreibungen. Klar, manche mag man weniger und manche mehr. Die Geschichten Ungewollter Schwangerschaftsabbruch, catgut (Achtung, brutal!) und Epilog haben mir gut gefallen.

Feisty, confident voices in these stories. Lots of emotional issues covered but not from the usual stale perspective.
Love her writing style, her dialogues, her language.
