This was all Quinn and Blay romance, and emotional turmoil around their lives, and Z's. It was a slower pace than the normal books, but I enjoyed it.

my boys are back!

while I have drifted from the bdb series in recent years (still have to read the last 2), I was excited for this one, and not disappointed

the continuation of their romance feels very natural, the ease with which they interact, the small touches, it flowed really well and made them feel like a real couple who's grown closer now that they've been together a while. they are definitely one of the better written continuations of existing couples that ward has done, and much more interesting than some of the recent new additions.

of course, it's not all just happy, there's plenty of action and heartbreak before that I won't spoil.

I'd definitely recommend for any fan, also those whose like me whose interest strayed a bit, ward is back to her good form in this.

Joy and tears. Always the way when Qhuinn and Blay are involved. Expected nothing else from this book.

A bittersweet read in some ways.....

I loved how the Race had problems with normal things like the weather

This book was SOOOO dull. I say this as someone who was OBSESSED with Blay and Qhuinn when the Black Dagger Brotherhood was first being written and published. I gobbled up their first novel together but this was completely unnecessary. It was literally all slice of life, half of it is spent on other characters (some of them fun to re-visits and some complete unknowns), barely anything happens and it's LONG.

Honestly don't bother, this is only for the mega-fans who still love this series. I personally have moved on to other series/genres. Plus if you want an M/M paranormal romance with vampires there are so many other *better* options.
