Thank you to Entangled Teen for the gifted copy.

What happens when a couple teenagers are stuck on a remote island…and there are no repercussions when they are stuck in a time loop? Repeat After Me explores that.

I couldn’t stop reading. Definitely a dark comedy, these kids are crass, abrasive, secretive, and explore the limits of humanity—since there is nothing to stop them (except their own conscience, perhaps?). Emma is our primary narrator, and she spends her time alternating between trying to figure out a way out of the time loop, or getting back at her ex-best friend or cheating boyfriend.

Repeat After Me is at times exceptionally dark and disturbing, then hilariously ridiculous and lighthearted. It’s hard to describe what makes this book so enjoyable (it’s just….weird af) but I basically read it all in an entire sitting.

I’ll absolutely have to keep an eye on this author.

Well that was something.

I feel like it is of no surprise to anyone I know that I will read just about anything that claims to involve octopuses. There is tentacles on the cover and the back of the book mentions consuming part of an immortal octopus. Okay, sold.

The octopus content was EXACTLY the kind of weird shit I was looking for, and I was very into the time loop shenanigans. The rest of the book, not so much. I could go the rest of my life never reading about a teenager attempting to blow themselves and drowning in the process again thanks.

💛💛💛 This might be too harsh of a rating. It was a solid 3, maybe 4 star book until the VERY LAST PAGE. I needed more than I was given.

The awesome design would have bumped this up to 4 stars but the egregious editing mistake on page 66 snatched that extra star right back.
