This book was a fun ride, pretty crude and kind of dumb, but in a good way. It was easy and quick, low stakes, annoying characters who mostly get what's coming to them.

Thank you Entangled Teen for the PR box. Unfortunately this was a DNF 80 pages in. The characters are a bunch of brats and their deeds totally grossed me out. Can I get the plot rather than how each kid cheats on their girlfriends?

(Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher. This has not impacted my review which is unbiased and honest.)

Okay, I love time loops. They're one of my favorite niche subjects I love to read in speculative fiction. However, Repeat After Me has some really short chapters and SO many POVs. It was kind of painful to get through at the beginning because I really had no idea who anyone was. It's tricky to be introduced to so many different voices and stories. Paired with the short chapters made it difficult to get anyone right in my head. As a whole, Repeat After Me attempts to explore when everything matters or nothing matters. But it's one that sort of loses the plot before it even begins?

Interesting concept, bad execution. Somehow both boring and crude. Wish I hadn’t spent money on it

When the author’s note at the beginning described this book as upper-YA I was a little turned off, but I powered through it.  Now that I’ve finished it, I’m amazed it can be considered YA at all with the gratuitous graphic language, drug use and references and sexual themes, but I think Jessica Warman crafted a masterpiece here.  The characters feel like the shitty, dumb high schoolers they are supposed to be, and I thought the execution of the premise was super well done.  The barrage of references to modern celebrities and vapes and stuff pulled me out sometimes, but ultimately it helped create an identity for the story that is very iconic and memorable.  Would definitely recommend and re-read.

a literal brain rot, book edition. in essence, it’s euphoria (show) but on a stranded island with a time machine…
