This book is very dense, filled with a million examples of how women are left out of every type of statistic and data collection, often because the data collection and scientific study itself is myopic in its maleness. Very well researched and documented, but a bit of a long, almost grueling read. I’d recommend reading a little at a time. Also it bears mentioning that everywhere one encounters the word woman in this book, it could be replaced with Black person, or immigrant, or person with a disability, and the invisibility would equally or even more pertain.

good but nonfiction is always a struggle for me

After two full months of listening every time I was in the car, I finally finished! This book is dense...but absolutely incredible. She puts into words so many feelings I've had my whole life - but also blows away the reader with quantitative analysis of just how much women are left out of important spaces and decisions in society. And the consequences. I keep talking about it with any single person that will listen, and it definitely had me going to bed angry at the patriarchy quite a few times. A must read... I only hope more men actually read it.

Because this book is nonfiction, it's very dense. I love a nonfiction moment, but I definitely benefit from more developed anecdotes. Overall, it presents important information and is well organized.

I also highly recommend going the audiobook route on this one!
