Visiting Betsy is always fun so this series continues to be an enjoyable, fun read for me. Though the ending for this installment was a bit disturbing - for this series anyway.

Betsy's back and this one picks up during the same week that ended book 7, Undead and Unworthy. Aside from having to face the werewolves, Betsy finds herself trying to solve the mystery surrounding her half-brother and ward, BabyJon. To top it all off, her half-sister Laura, and daughter of the devil, is stirring up things at home while she's away.

While all of this make the book sounds action packed, and I suppose it technically is, I couldn't help feeling like this was one long novella - like it was a transitory tale between books instead of a book itself. The issues that the novel deals with are either being put to bed (i.e. Antonia's death) or being introduced (i.e. Laura's impending Antichrist-ness). The problem with BabyJon is the only part that felt like it wholly belonged to this installment...

It was ok. I liked getting Marc's POV. I'm very curious how the whole "Laura: is she good or bad" thing will play out. I know in the next book things get really wild, but I'm looking forward to Undermined.

I started this series many years ago and then got busy and forgot about it for a while. A few years ago, I wanted to start reading them again but just never found the time.  Finally I put one on hold and I'm so glad I did. I LOVE the characters and the easy flow of the story.  I am putting the next one on hold right away.

i was very disappointed with the newest addition to the undead series. the first 100 or so pages are flashbacks of betsy's memories of what happened to lead up to this moment. it wasn't very climatic as i thought it would be. the covers are terrible. i liked the old covers better. betsy gets her ass kicked by laura and satan reappears later on...and BabyJon is one special baby. i think MJ shouldn't rush publishing stories so fast cuz then we readers don't get her greatest work. i'm sorry to say that it wasn't a good waste of my time.

A fun read! A little repetitive in places but the story was interesting-particularly learning about the werewolf pack and the new developments with Laura. Ready to start Undead and Unfinished and find out what happens next.
