It's rare for me to enjoy a sequel as much if not more than the first book, but here we are! I devoured this book and you will too. The audiobook is duet-style, and it's an absolute must if you're debating whether to read it or listen to the audiobook. I really hated my philosophy courses throughout school, but this book really makes it fascinating with how it ties into the occult and crime, so that's just a testament to how good this book really is!! This book you really find out who is the mastermind behind the murders and omg WHAT A PLOT TWIST!! Spice = immaculate. Banter = chef's kiss. Plot = twisted. 12/10
It's a smart and interesting part 2 of a murder mystery romance that dives into the psyche of each character. The characters experience profound growth, there are plot twists, and it's full of a Nietzsche-based cult. Definitely not for the faint of heart and for sure has lots of dark themes.
“Want—pure, unadulterated hunger—will drive us to the brink to possess, by any means, that which we cannot live without.”
Let’s discuss this beautiful fu*king masterpiece!
My friends, Trisha Wolfe has once again created perfection.
Professor Kallum Locke took up residency in my brain (without asking for permission, of course) since the first book. His dark, broody, philosophical, and electric claim is unlike anything in this world.
The magnetic pull the Halen and Kallum have to one another is absolutely insane. Their banter plus the burning desire between themselves makes the reader feel like you’re waking through the scenes with them. I cannot even begin to explain the spice level in this! It’s a constant engulfing flame.
I never, ever would have guessed the plot twist coming and it was executed so well!
I can only describe this as perfection in writing form.
Please check your triggers! Some include dark arts/occult elements, attempted SA, violence, blood play, sharp object play, and breath play.

What a great follow up! I liked this a lot more than the first book. It upped the ante but included a lot of good character development.
I didn’t pick who the killer was, but I did pick that there was something off with Alistair.

❛ Go to hell, Kallum. ❜ His smile is wicked.

TRISHA WOLFE DID IT AGAIN.
Not only did she draw me in once again with her phenomenal prose that reads like poetry, but I was once again fooled into thinking that Lovely Violent Things provided a conclusion to Halen and Kallum's story; fortunately, the cliff hanger was not as harsh in this one, and I do feel content where it was left off, but, at the same time, I desperately need more of these two.
Everything just felt as if it was raised a thousand steps intensity wise. The darkness, the thriller, the trauma, the slow burn and the spice. I tried my best to pace myself reading Lovely Violent Things, but I couldn't. I kept picking it up from six in the morning on release day until eventually finishing it in the evening because I truly am a moth to a flame with Wolfe's writing.
Although, both Kallum and Halen's intelligence do make me want to get back involved in academics in some shape or form, because I did find myself sitting there for a few hot seconds understanding some of the philosophy that they were delving into, Kallum especially.
The ending was just so delicious and completely hit the mark. Days later, I still can't fully put into works how masterfully crafted this series is. Wolfe has such a talent delving into the minds of Kallum, Halen, and The Overman who I actually had suspicions of throughout this book, which I felt pretty proud of.
What a twist, what a novel, whew! I need book three in my life - like, yesterday.

I didn't think this book was going to be able to match the tension of book 1, but it honestly had even more. I described Lovely Bad Things as Season 1 of True Detective meets a philosophy Davinci Code and I stand by that. This one just gets wilder.
