I needed a book to listen to while I was at the gym. I had earlier picked up and started Book Boyfriend by Claire Kingsley and was looking on audible escape to see if it was available. It wasn’t but this was so I thought I’d give it a shot. I’m glad I did. A little more dark that BB, but still amazing! Can’t wait to continue this series as well.

Unfortunately this is my least favorite Claire Kingsley book that I’ve read (of about 15 or so). It’s one of her earlier books so I’ll let it slide but it was pretty boring. So many of Claire’s books are either very funny or angsty/emotional in some way. This didn’t have really anything. There isn’t even much to comment on. It wasn’t dreadfully boring but not very interesting either. 3.0

I stopped after 20 pages. I've really enjoyed other books of hers but the writing was so flat I couldn't get into it.

Hold onto your hats, Ryan and Nicole's relationship starts off so fast and smokin' hot my Kindle was on fire. But things getting harder for them once they have to switch to a long distance relationship. I enjoyed seeing Nicole's character change and gain more confidence and clarity after starting a relationship with Ryan. Things weren't quite as easy for Ryan and my heart hurt for him when issues from the past resurfaced. I felt this was written really well. I enjoyed the start to the Jetty Beach Series.

This is a wonderful debut novel from Claire Kingsley. It is well written and the story flows nicely, keeping the reader engaged and wanting to know what happens between Nicole and Ryan. Both are shaped by what happened by relationships in their past as well as another secret Ryan is hiding. However, the author does a nice job of creating well developed characters that the reader will care about and want to succeed in their relationship. And let me just say, once you read this book you may have a new book boyfriend. I think everyone should have a Ryan. This was a well done debut that reads more like something from a writer that is several books into a series. I think you will be pleasantly surprised and enjoy this book.

I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This did not influence my opinion and the thoughts expressed are my own.
