Charming and honest portrayal of school-age kids' love/hate relationship. Artwork deceptively simple yet conveys range of emotions. I'm a new fan of Telgemeier's work! My 8-year-old son is a big fan, too, reading each book more than once.
Fun graphic novel about author Raina Telgemeier's relationship with her sister - told in 'flashbacks' and through a storyline about the sisters going on a road trip with their mom and younger brother. This is a companion novel to Telgemeier's other memoir graphic novels - Smile and Guts. Once you read one, you'll be hooked! – Diana F.

Why yes, I think I'll read all of Raina Telgemeier's graphic novels :-)
Quick read and look at family dynamics that aren't always perfect. Cute illustrations as always but I didn't love the story as much as her first two.
I almost liked this better than Smile, even tho Sisters is a companion to that. But the flashbacks in sepia just really worked for me. And the subject matter is infinitely relatable.

As an adult reading this, I didn't find the book that compelling. However, I can see its appeal to children. Based on the author's own life, the book describes in very realistic fashion sibling relationships, being a tween, and dealing with the stress of parents in crisis. Lots of topics to which kids can relate. I also feel like Raina Telgemeier completely changed the face of graphic novels with her popular books, so I have to give props for that.
