This Pov style of story was excellent. Mercy Rule is timely to recent events and can give insight on how events negative and positive can play on someone life

I really like books with multiple POVs but this one had too many. We follow seven different characters and at times I forgot whose perspective I was reading from. One of the characters that we follow is the school shooter.

There was a lot of bullying throughout the book. A lot of the time there were homophobic remarks made.

I feel like the book was longer than it needed to be and I ended up finding it to get a little repetitive. I didn't like any of the characters except for Cadence. I loved how she was always happy and positive.

The shooting took place within the last 50 pages and showed very little of the aftermath. I was hoping to see the students healing but we end up with only a chapter or two of it.

I liked the little plot twist at the end and I honestly didn't see it coming.

This book broke me a little bit. Makes me want to keep my child next to me forever and ever and never let her go to high school. And following Parkland so recently, this book made me think especially about the whys. The parents were less than perfect, as we all are. The kids were kids. The mean girl had a lot of pressure, the smart girl had a lot of conflict, the meatheads had issues beyond the surface, the nice girl just needed to be loved. The characters were real. I really liked this read.
