One of the best books have ever read...a book about hundreds of books to keep alongside you throughout life challenges. Will read the books referenced & keep this beautiful book close throughout my own life.

Think this is my favourite book I've read this year. It really is a big literary hug in a book.  I hope to remember to re-read this next time I need something comforting and/or next time I'm looking for inspiration to read.

I listened to this on BorrowBox, but would like to get a paperback to annotate and compare books with her

Thought of CC a lot as I read this. I think she'd enjoy this (and likely get more of the literary clever touches than me!) and maybe it will inspire her to write her own book?!

A love letter to reading. I enjoyed reading it, although I feel I would've enjoyed it more if I had read more of the books the author mentioned.

I should have really loved this because like Cathy Rentzenbrink I've always loved books and found comfort in them but there was something about this which meant I never quite connected with her writing. I really don't know what it is because I've read and enjoyed most of the books she discusses but I just never felt the comfort and cosiness in this book that other reviews mention.

initially, i did feel like book quite contrived, but i did come to hear the charm in the author's voice, hence why i finished it.

there were an awful lot of synopses of other books in this book, a majority of them by white classics men, which felt unnecessary + i by in large skipped them
