Gargoyle Queen #3
Adult Fantasy
The conclusion to Gemma's storyline. A great big world built wonderfully. Though the focus is on the two kingdoms, there is mention of others throughout, one being the kingdom from the crown of shards trilogy set 16 years before these events.
This series has a YA vibe with the MC figuring out where she fits and coming into her powers. The growth through the series is done very well. Though it had that YA feel it is definitely adult in content and language.
Beautiful ending to a light, fun series. I know currently there aren't plans from publisher for it but I'm hoping that one day the author can revisit this world and continue with the prophecy line.

Wow so good! This series is just so so good! And the ending to this series was a great finale with the action, the suspense, the wondering who to trust, and the romance of course! I loved being able to read this series set in such a unique world filled with gargoyles and strixes(which make me think of griffins), magic, unique stone that is like a magic conduit, and the enemies to almost lovers to enemies to lovers romance. The romance was such a wild ride, and had maybe a tad bit too much drama for my taste, but it was still lovely to read, and Leo is just such an amazing and lovely character that I would do anything for!

I look forward to reading more by Jennifer Estep after reading this series, and I can hardly wait and see what more may come after this series! I received a free digital copy to read. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A fitting, fun conclusion to the Gargoyle Queen series, CONQUER THE KINGDOM reunites our favourite heroes and villains as they clash over who will rule the realms.

Gemma is the same troublemaking princess who never gives up on doing what is right. She is willing to sacrifice her happiness with Leonidas if she must. Most of the characters fall into their troped, but some of the villains are a little more complicated, which I appreciated.

The plot is easy to follow and leads to some strong action scenes at key moments. It’s not as intense as some other Estep books, though there is definitely an undercurrent of danger throughout.

Both the world-building and dialogue are easy to follow. The romance is typically safe and sweet. Like all of Estep’s books, I enjoy this as a palate cleanser from heavier stories, and find that simpler books like this are balms for the soul.

If you are looking for a fun, easy fantasy read with a light magic system, CONQUER THE KINGDOM is for you!

This was a satisfying conclusion to the Gargoyle Queen trilogy, but unfortunately I didn’t love it as much as Everleigh’s series because I didn’t get a good sense of how Gemma has grown up and matured and still imagine her as the child in the Crown of Shards series.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for my chance to review.
