Not at all what I expected, Started with curiosity, ended up questioning my sanity.

Disturbing? Absolutely. Good plot? Weirdly, yes.

I genuinely have no idea how to rate this. Honestly—no clue. Maybe 3,5 ⭐?
This book is sick. Please read the trigger warnings, because this one is a lot. Heavy, disturbing, intense.

The first half didn’t really work for me. The pacing felt slow, and I pretty much hated every single character—until something shifted, and suddenly Kodi and Leo had my full attention. At one point, I was so close to selling the entire series, but the second half pulled through. Now? I’m actually ready to give book two a chance—if only to find out how this whole madness ends.

I don’t know what I am rating yet.

But holy shit did that tear me up.
The trigger warnings in this one should not be ignored.

It leaves a haunting feeling with despair. Part of me wants to know what happens next and continue with the series. The other part is like - maybe take a mental health break.

Narrators were excellent.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

I’ll be honest: I wanted to DNF this book so bad at first. But I pushed through and kept reading.

It started off WRONG with that intense fight between Frankie and Monty about their unborn child. I was disgusted. Still, I kept going.

There are some horrible, gross, and downright inexplicable things that happen (and are discussed) in this book. They’re disturbing, and I can see them being MAJOR triggers for a lot of people. Even I struggled at times—and this isn’t my first dark read.

The whole thing was like a fucked up imposter syndrome and I went mental waiting for any of the sons to act out against Denver, evidently I was waiting for nothing since for most of the book they wouldn’t so much as disagree with him. *instert massive eyeroll here*

That said, I was captivated by the connection forming between Frankie and the brothers. (Although Wolf’s internalized victim mentality really started to get on my nerves. Still, I decided it made sense considering his personality and trauma.) That emotional pull sucked me in, and curiosity got the best of me. I couldn’t put the book down anymore.

Despite the painful and awful subject matter, the book is very well-written. I’ll be picking up the next one.
