Bourbon and Lies remains one of my top reads for the year, but this is a damn close second! (and only second because I think I related more to the first FMC!)

This definitely stepped up the suspense from the first book- there were so many little plot bunnies hopping around that it kept me hooked and ready for more, and some of the twists were so unexpected !? If you know me, you know that’s a massive compliment…

Both narrators were new to me, but I loved them both a lot! Megan especially, brought something so unique with her deeper timbre and sass - she really brought the badass FMC of Faye to life for me! Lee nailed the sexy single dad vibe, switching between the sweet Dad voice, to the raspy and sexy parnter voice, to the confident and self-assured company executive. Loved them both, and can’t wait to hear more from them!

4.5 ⭐️ 3 🌶️
As good as the first book! Loved the banter and the chemistry between the two main characters. All the side characters were equally fun and well rounded. There was another plot twist I did not see coming and the whole story was a banger!

Honestly so far this series has been one of the best small town suspense romance series I have read!

I am seriously HERE for this series of Victoria's. Fiasco, KY is a place I want to visit...if only for the Foxx brothers LOL.

This book seriously has it all! Small town, suspense, spice, heartwarming moments. I'm not sure I can pick one exact favourite moment because it was just so good all around!

Faye is back in Fiasco after being gone for a long time and Lincoln is not happy about it. But Lincoln's kids warm up to Faye pretty quickly...and well, so does Lincoln LOL. I loved this story--the banter, the spice, the romance...dang it was just so so good. The Foxx family is so tight knit and all the secrets and trust and everything just worked so well to make this book such a good read.

audio: Megan Wicks can do no wrong. She always portrays the best female character and side characters, and Lee Samuels simply just nailed it as Lincoln. A+++ performance.

Tropes:
small town
romantic suspense
single dad
found family
hate to love

Audio Update (7.2025)
Since the moment I read this book, Lincoln Foxx has been my favorite of the Bourbon Boys so getting to listen to this story was even better than I had dreamed. I love Lincoln and how protective he is towards his family and his daughters and how he falls completely for Faye. It's like their soul's recognized that protective nature in each other and brought them together. This book is sexy, sultry, and so good.

From her very first word, I knew Megan Wicks was absolutely perfect to voice Faye. The smoky, sultry tone of her voice is exactly what I envisioned for Faye and Megan nailed it. For Lincoln, Lee Samuels was also perfect. His voice complimented Megan's so well and together these two made one of my favorite books even better! Everyone needs to experience the magic that is these two together.

“I started falling in love with Faye Calloway on the edge of a cornfield, on a stage, over a bottle of bourbon, and every time she’s been in my arms since.”

Okay what a BANGER of a book! I loved it! Faye was a strong FMC I rooted for (pro-sexy work and LEO adjacent?! SWOON). Then gruff and grumpy Lincoln?! Yummy. How he was with his daughters, as well as Faye was just perfect. I loved watching him slowly warm up, it was just amazing.

As someone who was not a fan of book one, I’m so happy I read this book because wow the change in relationship dynamics and romantic suspense in this book had me HOOKED in all the ways I didn’t in B&L.

🌶️🌶️: “If I forget to tell you later,” he says as leans forward and kisses just above my navel, “you’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. And like this.” He kisses my right br**t, then my left, lowering his head to kiss the center of my p***y as I moan for him. “I won’t be the same man after it.” Reaching up, he wraps his hand around my throat, Pulling me forward in the most dominant way. The taste of me on his tongue, our heavy breaths, and the thrum of wanting the other so intimately has the kiss nearly all-consuming.

So excited to read Bourbon & Proof - also, the fact I got to meet Victoria last month at the Meet & Greet Cute signing was just amazing timing! I wish I had already read this to share my love!

Thank you @homecookedbookspromos for a copy of the audiobook in exchange for my honest review!
