Ik heb echt van dit boek genoten. Wat een heerlijke schrijfster is Kate Morton toch. Zo veel verschillende verhaallijnen, zoveel verschillende tijden en dan toch kunnen zorgen dat het allemaal moeiteloos in elkaar loopt aan het einde. De verhalen van Jimmy en Vivienne zijn zo goed in elkaar verweven en de personages zijn zo goed beschreven dat je wel van ze moet houden.
Page turning story but I didn't really care for any of the characters, past or present. I can see why Ms. Morton is considered an amazing writer; she does have a gift for words! I look forward to reading another book of hers.

This is definitely my favourite Kate Morton. I was really intrigued by the mysteries and couldn't wait to find out what had happened.
I loved it. It reminded me of Atonement but not quite as good.
It was so sweet and endearing, the ending was just perfect. Light and fluffy but enough of a mystery that it keeps you interested.

I was a bit annoyed when I picked another dual-timeline WWII historical fiction out of my TBR jar, because I just haven’t been enjoying those lately, but this one really surprised me. The writing was beautiful, the characters were complex and vibrant, and the mystery woven through the story kept me invested all the way through. There were more unforeseen twists and turns than I expected, and I didn’t find it predictable at all. I’m happy to declare this one a success in my mind.
