I really enjoyed the insight the young daughter had while learning more about her mother as a whole person, not just her mom. The growth and thought process was touching. This was my first book by this author, and I will be reading another. This author was descriptive, amd kept you guessing. An enjoyable read.

Well written multigenerational family drama. Kate Morton does not disappoint.

A very nice enjoyable mystery with a very nice twist at the end.

Three and a half. I liked but didn't love this book. Not sure why, but it usually has to do with a lack of sympathy for the characters. It was also too long, but I tend to think all books are too long. Interesting plot twist at the end.

This was a really gripping and well written book. RTC.

A great holiday read, that kept me interested and guessing from beginning to end.
I was not expecting the ending.

I didn't want to put this book down! It hooked me from the first chapter and kept me reading all the way through. The ending surprised me so much! I was really invested in all of the characters and I loved seeing their different perspectives. Definitely a favorite for this year!

I listened to this on audio with a few breaks because I just could not get into it. Dolly was the main character for most of the book and I really did not like her so, as much as I wanted to know the big secret, it took a lot of effort to keep listening. The last third of the book, when they added some other characters' point of view, was when I really started enjoying the story. And the final twist was perfect - completely unexpected and unpredictable.

DID NOT FINISH: 20%

Too romanticised. On paper, this book ticks a lot of boxes for me, but it's just written in such an idealised, sentimental way, it kind of feels like a holiday read. It's well written and certainly not without it's merits, but I really wanted something more atmospheric and dark and this felt very rose-tinted. 20% through and I just don't care about the characters or the events so it's time to put the book down.
