Everything I thought I knew about the main character of this book from posters of Audrey Hepburn and collective pop culture surrounding the movie--did not quite capture the mood of this novella. Holly Golightly (the one within the pages of this book) is completely unpredictable and very entertaining. I haven't actually seen the movie (oops) so I came in pretty blind about the storyline. And spoiler alert: there really isn't one! It's just a character study and series of vignettes about a fearlessly confident, wacky, vivacious young woman determined to reinvent herself on the Upper East Side as a glamorous party girl. This isn't a cutesy, cleaned up story; there are some dark elements to it involving Holly's past that feel more than a little icky when held up to a modern day light. But all in all, this short, peppy little story has a lot of heart to it and for lack of a better word, is a total vibe. Perfect quick plane read!

A breezy read but much sadder than the film. Brilliant prose, with characters that really come alive on the page.

Also enjoyed the other stories in the collection.
