the haunting dark fairy tale that you needed as a child is here. it's freaky, and dark and delicious. I drank this up like a cup of coffee; it was so ice cold it burnt my tongue.

I'd describe this as a GRIMM FAIRY TALE meets CARAVAL (in terms of magical quality, to which both have a lot)

Alice is a compelling character and I loved seeing the world from her viewpoint.

I want to read THE TALES FROM THE HINTERLAND; and am praying it will be something I can hold eventually.

you'll love this book.

more thoughts to come in a long while, but you'll love this book.

The first half was really interesting and full of storybook mystery. The second half slowed down a little and too more to finish.

The best parts of this were when we were in the fantasy story, which unfortunately was a little less than half the book. I would have loved this if the story was more fairytale and less grumpy teen.

As much as it made my skin crawl, I loved this book
