Maybe I just don't like space operas? Because the premise interested me, and I liked most of the characters. But I'm fairly sure I wouldn't have made it through this without the audiobook's help.

Do be aware that there is way less restaurant content than everything else. That may be part of what threw me off.

I LOVE a sassy sentient spaceship, and the villain is truly despicable.

I enjoyed this book. The ship reminded me of Lexx. I liked the Easter eggs such as whaales leaving earth (star trek voyage home ). Occasionally the writing would feel choppy and I'd have to go back to see if I had missed something. There are several secondary characters that I hope we learn more about if this series continues. All in all a good fun read. Looking forward to more in the series.

ARC from netgalley.

You Sexy Thing is a textured sci fi adventure filled with interesting characters that just keep getting more interesting! A group of former hive-mind soldiers are hoping to snag a Nikkelin Orb rating for their restaurant, but things majorly go awry before the special meal is even served. Cue princesses, pirates, and the best bioship money can buy.

Rating this was difficult and just another request for 1/4 star ratings.

Thus was fun, and darker than I expected. I will be reading the next one, but I struggled with the random switches in POV. Is this an example of 3rd person omniscient? (I seriously don't know.)

You Sexy Thing is a fun space adventure. It introduces some compelling and fun characters, with great dynamics. The plot has some issues, especially involving pacing, but the overall story is a fun ride. The world-building is fascinating and complex. The writing overall is good, but there is a tone problem. All in all, this was a book that I enjoyed, but it doesn’t really stand out to me for any deep message it sends. It’s a fun story, and I’d recommend it to readers looking for an amusing distraction.
