A bit of a moralistic tone. But well considered and written and drawn. Obviously Ms. Marvel is the leader though I'm thinking the group will decide that they are all the leader. Miles Morales isn't used all that well in this one, but the rest of the group come off looking pretty good. Even Nova and Cyclops are readable. The book has possibilities, hopefully the sequel will be at least as good.

Started out perfect only to let me down.

I LOVED issues 1 and 2 but then issue 3 happened. I hated every second of it.
Amal was a very strong character but then they all took their hijab off to appear strong and come up for their rights. It made it seem that the hijab oppressed them and that wearing a hijab and reading/being strong/having rights can’t go together. It’s just the same old misrepresentation over and over again and it’s soooo frustrating.

We need more stories about positive people with positive lives who happen to be Muslim and talk about it in a normal positive way. As long as there is no balance of both in books/movies/show we don’t need any more negative Muslim representation.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR STORY PASSES THE RIZ TEST!!!!!

Issues 4 and 5 were okay.

The Marvel draw has always been the personalities and not the powers. This book focused on diverse teens is great. I suppose it could seem a little “social justice warrior-y” but I like the thoughtful nature of the conflicts they face and how they resolve them.

Well, that was fun! I picked this up because I love Ms. Marvel so when I saw her on the cover, I knew I had to read it. Even though it does tie into some story lines I am not familiar with (time traveling Cyclops clone? Who/what exactly is Gwenpool??) I really enjoyed it and can't wait to read the next trade!

Of course Ms. Marvel would assemble the most consciously woke team of superheroes. Yay teens!

I enjoyed the story here and getting to know some of these younger Marvel heroes. Addresses human trafficking in one story and bigotry and law enforcement using power to oppress minorities in another story. I liked how those two stories in particular wrestled with how to stand up to power.

I'm not a huge fan of Gwenpool, but I like everything else about this book!
