Not spectacular, but an interesting & quick read. Pretty spot-on for the book

The positive:
Rose and Dimitri were hot.

The negative:
Everything is glossed over. If someone who hadn't read the book read this it would be very confusing. Too much was skipped. I definitely read this in less than half an hour. Not a fan of the art. Dimitri didn't offer to train Rose. He suggested someone trains her then agreed to do it. He also didn't politely ask her to get dressed when he found her with Jesse. It didn't even show the Romitri moment in the infirmary.

It seemed a little rushed to me, but I also wasn't a huge fan of the first book in this series. I also probably shouldn't have read this after reading the Twilight one. The art just didn't compare. This wasn't how I really pictured the characters, but I did like the drawings of Christian.

It was never going to be easy condensing the complexities of Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy into a short and punchy graphic novel (my mind was boggled when I learnt that this edition covers the entire first book rather than being volume 1). So credit to the writers and artists - they do a great job of setting the scene, establishing the characters and driving the story forward at a break-neck pace.

Sadly, some of the nuances are lost in translation - what I love so much about the series is that the world of the Moroi, Dhampirs and Strigoi is rich and layered, and obviously sacrifices were made in moving to the graphic novel format. The finale in particular suffered - we see rapid scene after scene as revelations are made, hearts are broken, betrayers are unmasked, and it all came across as a little flat, thanks to the need for speed.

I liked most of the artwork - Rose was great and Dmitri... well, it was nice to see him outside of my head. The Moroi are a trickier proposition - they are all meant to be tall, pale and beautiful, with just a hint of otherness, but I found Lissa didn't look quite right.

Though I didn't love the graphic novel, it did serve to remind me why I loved the book series in the first place. Definitely looking forward to revisiting Frostbite with purty pictures later on this year.

I was really happy to find out that there was a Graphic novel for my favorite series! I waited for almosta month for it to come from the mail! and when i got it (I remember i was on the phone to a friend, and he was like, "Hello, are you there? Hellooooo-Hey, i heard that page turning, LISTEN TO ME!!!!!" It was really funny. I think i was more eager to get off of that phone than i have ever been :) But anyway, i loved this book, and although the illustrations from the Twilight Graphic novel were better, this one was still great!

Cuma 15ribu, hahahaha XD
