One of the best books I have read in a while. I felt like I was there in person watching everything unfold and wanting to jump in and alter the course of the characters’ lives.

A very great read that will challenge the way you look at struggle and privilege. This book pulls at your heart and has you rooting for different characters throughout.
It is written through the point of view of a young boy growing up in the backcountry and I found the tone and language a bit difficult to get used to at first. Also, it is a very long read which may deter some readers, but the story itself is so beautiful.

Barbara Kingsolver has a brilliantly incisive tone. She is able, through Damon, to explore a layered series of injustices that one must always keep in mind when evaluating the actions of others. It came to me highly recommended and I will continue the chain of endorsement.
