Strong production values really elevate an abominable snowman story. I also strongly argue fiction podcasts totally count as audiobooks-anything that takes longer than a half-hour to consume and isn't all that different from experiencing a play counts as a book in my, er, book.

This is a podcast, not a book! But extremely story-driven and immersive.

One of my favorite podcasts. It’s a slow burn, sometimes to its detriment, but it has some of the best production out there for an ongoing audio drama like this and the extensive voice cast all do a great job. The world building is the greatest strength—terrifying, looming threats with a history you desperately want to learn more about even as it crawls deeper under your skin.

The ending to season 5—which acts as the capstone, it seems, to the prior four—was a little unsatisfying in the end, but the promise of another season on the way softens the disappointment a bit.

An exceptionally produced audio drama that evokes The Mountains of Madness, The Head, The Thing, etc but takes place in the North rather than Antarctica, on the frozen island of Svalbard. A failure in a scientific outpost's automated systems for collecting data during the dangerous winter leads to an international team of five experts to brave the elements to fix what's gone wrong -- only to get trapped in their bunker by an exceptional storm, where boredom leads them to make a mysterious discovery under the ice. The story lends itself perfectly to the found audio format and the cast, several of whom are apparently newcomers, give fantastic performances (with one annoying exception). And of course there's a cliffhanger! Good thing there's already a few seasons available.
