This book was okay. While I admire the creativity of writing the whole story like an interview, I don’t think I much liked the format as a reader. I’m also confused how they can be such a hit band with only, like, two albums. And honestly, there wasn’t really any twist like I was expecting—like there was in Evelyn Hugo. So I guess…I don’t know, this book wasn’t much my thing, and I don’t think going forward, books about rockstars are my thing either.

formatted like a documentary, Daisy Jones & The Six follows this band through their rise to stardom and subsequent break up. The characters are incredibly realistic and their emotions and behaviours are very real, all of them are unreliable narrators so it’s funny when you read something from one person and then it’s told differently from another. I don’t have any personals experience with addiction but i think that topic was handled with tact.

Definitely entertaining as an audiobook, but the story was pretty predictable and left me with the "Oh, that was it?" feeling. Nonetheless, I'm excited to watch the television show!

Loved it. While reading it, this book made me feel very cool, like I could do all those things even though I never would. Very emotional and heart-wrenching at times.

an absolutely beautiful book. you really feel like you’re there with the band when you’re reading this, and the imagery and prose were gorgeous. I now wanna be a rockstar in the 70s

I honestly had no interest in reading this, but I kept hearing how great the audiobook was and my curiosity won out. I'm glad I listened to it, though. I was pleasantly surprised!

The way the story was put together was such a cool concept. I did struggle to identify the audiobook cast; there were a lot of characters to keep track of, and half of the narrator's voices sounded the same to me. I could only identity the female characters and Grahm by voice. I think that's just a me thing, though 😅 But it did unfortunately take me out of the story sometimes.

I also had a hard time believing that
Daisy and Billy loved each other. I understood the attraction, but felt like we were told more than we were shown. But maybe that was unavoidable since the bulk of the book was in interview format. While the interview format was cool and unique, it also made it harder for me to connect to the characters - they felt distant somehow.

Overall, it's a really good book. I think I'd enjoy it more on a reread.

This book kind of reminded me of the movie Almost Famous. So if you like that movie, you might like this.

I'd love to watch the adaptation of this, but I don't have Amazon Prime. Maybe one day I'll see it. 🤷‍♀️
