Scarlet is the feisty red head that I expected her to be! Then there is Wolf! I love how the characters become intertwined. This book is even better than the first!!

description

I give Scarlet 3 stars for entertainment and pacing, but this series so far deserves a 2-star rating in my book.
Unpopular opinion ahead.
The final book in this series just came out, and here’s why I’m so behind on it.
This series is like a Disney film. Not one of my favorites, like Tarzan, Finding Nemo, Inside Out, or Lilo and Stitch. I’ll admit I’m extremely emotionally attached to those, but more like the average ones before the year 2000 (don’t thrown anything at me but…), like Sleeping Beauty. Cute, fun and easy to get through, but it doesn’t stay with me.

What I'm most disappointed with is that after finishing book 2, the world-building is still at minimum and the characters are cardboard cutouts.
I did like this more than Cinder, just because the plot thickens. But compared to other YA books? Meh.

Wow, where do I start with Cinder's character in this book? Frankly, she needs to get her shit together. She was so annoying and selfish. STEP UP AND TAKE ONE FOR THE TEAM, GIRL. The future of their planet depends on the one person who wants to leave it all behind. Awesome! The odds are totally on our side.

I much preferred Scarlet’s story. Our red riding hood in this book felt like a more well-rounded character than Cinder and was easy to root for. Scarlet is fierce and stubborn and I really liked her and Wolf.

Final verdict:
We’re nearly halfway through the series and I have even more questions than before. Honestly I think Marissa Meyer went over her head with this. I’d rather have a minimal amount of amazing world-building than too much that doesn’t go past the basic level of description. Too predictable and cartoonish for me, but I will continue on with the series someday. It was a super quick read.
