Needs a lot of effort to finish it.
Modern literature with its stream of consciousness, first person narrative and epiphanies.. A labyrinth.
For those who love to read challenging narratives.

An artist's tale, how he observes universe around him when child... How all this evolves him into a devout Catholic would-be monk and his degeneration into an atheist...
Loved it.

Why would you write something the reader can barely understand? What is the purpose?

Stephen has no idea how to be a human being & I really hope he figures it out someday

I adore Joyce’s short stories so I felt it was time to go for a novel. The thing I love most about Joyce is the truth in his writing, how things feel real and essential and whole. This comes through at times, but other times the stream of consciousness becomes blurred, dreamlike, and ethereal in a way that is lovely but that I didn’t resonate with as much. Probably need to reread, as I really enjoyed some sections and was wholly disconnected from others. Weird one for me, usually I know how I feel about a book when I finish but this one needs to simmer longer.
