Just a few days ago, I mentioned how we kinda should judge books by their covers (if we're familiar with the genre). This book proves my point. Because as someone who's read a bit of the genre, the cover and title gave me an idea of what to expect from the story—a light, fun and fast-paced read with a cute romance. And this book was exactly that. So of course, I'm very happy with it.
Of all of Saxon's solo books, this one is definitely my favourite so far. It feels like she finally found the tone that works for her. And it's certainly a tone that works for me. It's lighthearted enough to be enjoyable. But there's still some kind of plot thread or conflicts going on at all times so that it doesn't feel like it's stalled.
The story follows Chad and Bailey. They belong to rival frats, and while Bailey isn't too invested in the frat, Chad is all about the pranks. Now I'm not particularly fond of the frat thing, but because the characters treated the rivalry as a good-natured game, it was pretty fun to read about.
Chad and Bailey work great together. Chad is a goofy, easy-going guy prone to juvenile pranks. But when it comes to their relationship, his honestly and vulnerability make him very likable. Whereas Bailey is more serious but lets himself loosen up a little with Chad. They're adorable together. And they handle the whole rival frat issue very well. It's more something to tease about than a point of contention.
I liked the side characters as well. I liked that we got to know them enough to be interested in reading their stories but that they never took over the book. I hate it when authors spend too long setting up future books.
The humour was great too. Plenty of banter to be had between Chad and Bailey. The dynamics in the frats, mainly Chad's, were fun. And the book just flew by. I'm excited to see what other stories we get from this series.

This is the Max Monroe writing for gay men. Seriously even the same audio narrator as Max Monroe, so if you like their writing, and you enjoy MM romance read this series. Other than that it was cute and fluffy, not a whole ton of depth, but it made me laugh out loud several times and I’ll definitely continue on with the series.
