DNF @50%.

This book was jam packed with Irish mythology but little plot.
The dual POVs sounded the same and the going to and fro from past to present just muddled things.
The love story felt weak and I just didn’t care about anything.

This started off both weak and slow but as part 2 begins the story picks up and starts to become something interesting.
However, it is definitely not a beauty and the beats retelling.

I found this story quite engaging and emotional, bringing tears to my eyes at times. Rozlyn and Jamie's relationship has intricate dynamics and, though complicated, was engaging to follow. Despite some issues with pacing and writing, their interactions kept me invested in their centuries-long journey of love. The alternating narration between present and past was a cool concept but didn't quite work because both voices felt too similar. While the book was marketed as a Beauty and the Beast retelling, the borrowed elements were superficial, making it more akin to a retelling of Midir and Étain´s story.
