This is a good solid fantasy, I actually enjoyed it more than her previous Heir trilogy. Action, some romance, likable characters. All that good stuff -- I'm looking forward to the sequels.

The author had me intrigued right from the first page and kept it going throughout the entire book. My only issue is the somewhat abrupt ending that has me reaching for book two today.
Thoroughly enjoyed the read.

This book was just ok. Honestly, I felt like instead of being taken into a fantasy adventure, or a journey. I was running in place, not getting anywhere. Things were happening, but I could pretty much predict most of the "major events" in it. It seemed like all the fun, dark conspiracies were happening in the shadows and we get no perspective of that. You just know something is brewing.

I guess you can say it lacked a strong villain. You know who it is but he has no presence, at least not to me. I did however really enjoy the world and the mythology/ history behind it all. There are some interesting characters, and working of magic I wanted to learn more of which is why I'd continue on with the series.

I just hope things get a bit dirtier.

I liked this and initially thought I'd grab book two, but now that I am a day away from it I am thinking I may have more interesting things... Still I enjoyed the wizard stuff and am curious to see what happens with the princess undercover. Decisions, decisions.

This book far exceeded my expectations! It is dark, magical, mysterious, and fun. I loved all the main characters, especially Raisa and her forward thinking ways. It was a great and quick read!

It took a chapter or two for me to get into the book. However, once in I was hooked. I skipped supper and read until 2:00 in the morning and then finished it this morning. The two main characters are quite sympathetic. I am having a real hard time dealing with the fact that I will have to wait until September for the next book in the series.

I LOVED this book, wonderful on audio. Time to jump right into book 2.
