It's a good start for the series. It sets the scene for the other books. I admit, the beginning of this books was a bit slow BUT once I got to see more of Raisa and Han things started to pick up!.......still a bit confused on the descendants and lineage and whatnot but I'm excited to see where the story goes. =)

Wow, what an amazing story! Loved the strong female character who was not scared of flaunting her sexuality. But then she is Princess, I feel that if another lower ranking person did this in the book, they would not be tolerated by other characters. For instance, Take Bird's character: she is ambitious, excellent archer etc but she is hiding her relationship with Han (I know the author gave reasons auch as Bird being a Demonai etc, but still).

Looking forward to reading the next one in the series!

I have never been more disappointed with a book, like I am with this one. First off, the world map was a complete mess & just, unappealing to the eye. The characters were so bland, they had no depth to them, which made connecting to them difficult. There was no suspense or surprise in the story either; We knew exactly who the villain was from the beginning and knew that the main character would be magical in some way because, hello, "he's worn silver cuffs for as long as he can remember that grow with him and never come off." The authors attempt at backstory was also a mess! I was so confused by who was who and who did what. I honestly don't understand how this book has as much hype as it does. Definitely not a book I would recommend to anyone.

I am fully biased. I love this series. its one of my all time favs and I think about it a lot so it was due for a reread!

I wasn't sure about this book at first, but then easily came to love it. It's one of the few High Fantasy books that is completely based on character.

The Demon King takes two very different perspectives; one of Han, an ex-street lord who must find a way to feed his mother and sister without going back to crime. And Raisa, the Princess Heir of the Fells, whose biggest problem lies in her broad choice of suitors. Despite this, the tension builds due to several factors. The ending made me hungry for more and I immediately went out for the sequel, which I then devoured in a night.

I love Han the more I read about him. And Raisa, despite the slightly cliche rebellious princess character is very well developed, although I liked her more in The Exiled Queen. She is one of those that grow on you.

My only warning is that it starts off slow, and I've heard of many people who gave up on this book prematurely. To read this book and properly get into it, you have to read to the midpoint. If you get to the midpoint and you still haven't fallen in love, then by all means, drop it. Maybe it's not for you. But please READ TO THE MIDDLE OF THE BOOK. Ideally, when Raisa and Han meet, because by that point I couldn't put it down no matter how hard I tried.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this series twice over. It's the best series I've ever read. Yeah. It's THAT good.
