Shakespeare Basics for Grown-Ups: Everything You Need to Know About the Bard by B. Coates, E. Foley

A great book for beginners and pros alike. Very witty and easy to read, you'll sit down for 5 minutes with a cup of tea and an hour later you'll suddenly have read 100 pages!! A great book to just dip in and out of too, you don't have to read it in order and you can cherry pick your favourite plays and other aspects to read about.
Also it's largely unbiased (something you don't often get in a Shakespeare bio/commentary) meaning you just get the facts straight up without some scholar's opinion. If something's in doubt, the writers tell you it's debatable. Easy!
Love this book and definitely will be referring back to it as/when I get to see some more of the great man's work.
