The Expanse is probably the best sci-fi show currently airing (not caught up, but have seen the first several seasons), and that's largely due to its excellent source material. I saw the show first, so I was surprised that Avasarala was absent from the first book (though presumably doing things behind the scenes on Earth), so I welcomed her POV chapters here. Bobbie and Prax also add dimension to the universe and its factions, though I can see why the show cut Prax's fundraiser subplot.

Jefferson Mays continues to delight, and my favorite parts of his narration are probably the Mariner Valley drawl he gives the Martians.

OMG that ending?? I’m screaming. This was actually quite similar to the first book in plot, but I liked the characters introduced so much that I liked this one even more. The politics and action were more intense in this book as well! Avasarala is actually my spirit animal, and she CARRIED her parts of this. The Roci crew are truly some of my favorite characters and they just work so well together. They bring a touch of humor to the series that I absolutely love! I had such a great time reading this book.
